Do you have a service attitude? What is a service attitude, you may ask?
I believe a service attitude is when we have an awareness of our environment. A consciousness of how to nurture and care for the people, animals and things in our lives. Our service attitude varies on the particular role we play with the people in our lives.
For example, I am a mother, a daughter, a sister, a wife, a friend, a real estate investor, and a coach or a mentor to different people. My service attitude is different based on the people I interact with throughout the day, but I always make an effort to make sure it’s there and alive.
This is also one of my secrets and a reason why I am a successful real estate investor today. We should market ourselves as a “service company” versus “real estate investors.” By having a service attitude, one learns to pay attention to others as if they are the most special person they know.

A service attitude teaches the balance of giving and receiving. There are many qualities we can develop while giving service in our relationships with other people: consideration and thoughtfulness (very important when dealing with sellers), passive love of giving without necessarily expecting anything in return (especially towards your children), generosity, and the joy that comes from giving with an open hand and the freedom we feel from doing it. This last one is extra special for me and extremely rewarding as I practice it in all the relationships I build with my coaching students.
Did you know that having a service attitude of giving is also a primary way of working on your ego? Think about pride. Do you not give to someone who, in your opinion, is not “worthy” of it, or with whom you just had an argument? So, watch out for resistance, opinionated thinking, discrimination, impatience, and jealousy.
We are all energy beings. So, working on service is a great opportunity for picking up thought projections. The more you practice this attitude of service you will pick up thought projections as you become more and more aware of the needs and wants of others. This is one of my secrets to understanding the seller’s needs and motivation.
I focus on their needs and as a result, they like me, trust me and want to do business with me. My intention is not to get a deal when I go on appointments, but instead to become friends with the sellers, to have fun on the appointment, and to do my best. The real estate deals I get are a result of that service attitude and they come with a very good benefit, money and financial freedom.
Keep in mind that there are so many ways to give service to people in our lives and also strangers. It’s where the whole idea of paying it forward came from. It could be something as small as getting someone a small cup of coffee or tea, Washing your neighbor’s car or giving someone a shoulder rub.
Sometimes it could be in the form of making an anonymous donation. We don’t always need people to know that we did something good for someone. Be a pleasant surprise.
I hope you enjoyed this article and hopefully it gave you a different perspective on how having a service attitude can get you what you want and desire in life.
To your success,
